Gibhli studios are famous for their low budget yet good films. Here is a film which will touch your heart in such a way you will hardly feel it. Its a simple story simply said... Two girls, sisters , One 10 years Satsuki Another 4 years Mei Their silent adventure starts when their father Mr.Kusakabe shifts to a huge abandoned house in forest. Their mother is ill and is hospitalized. They regularly visit her. As satsuki gets ready to settle by joining a nearby school. In the mean time Mei spends her time in woods nearby. Mr kusakabe is an archaeologist . He does his work at home it self. Satsuki and Mei very excitedly explore their new house which they hear is haunted. They find some creatures which are strange enough for them to believe that their house is haunted. Acorns falling of from the ceiling. Finding soots in their room. One day while satsuki is at her school. Mie is playing outside her house when she happens to stumble upon little semi trans parent creatures, who are carrying acorns in their sack. She gets curious and follows them where accidentally she lands up in a place below a huge tree. There she finds a large creature which looks like those little creatures.But this one on very very big. As she is tired running around she happens to fall asleep on the soft stomach of the creature. Later when Satsuki return home Doesn't find Mei around. Satsuki and her dad search for Mei . They find her fast asleep in the bushes. She explains them she saw Totoro which is a giant creature. Satsuki too wants too see the creature but she accepts that it was not her day. Still she has hope that she will see him one day. And her wish gets fulfilled when she and Mei are waiting for their father at a bus stop one rainy evening. Satsuki even lends him her umbrella. This film has no exaggerated drama nor bright colours still it leaves a smile on viewers face. Characters are very adorable and real. Kids will happily relate to them . Perfume is a story about a man , born in an extremely ugly circumstances.
Jean-Baptiste Grenouille is born in the stench of eighteenth century in a filthy fish market in paris .His mother makes an attempt to kill him as he is born when an onlooker saves the child and his mother is hanged to death.
This starts chain of incidents which areshocking , scandalising and raw.
Jean Grenouille has a unique sense of smell which is above ordinary.

As Jean Grenouille grows up his sense of smell becomes more and more dominating.
He is keen to try on his skills by making perfumes. He keeps on sneaking outside perfume shops .
Grown up in a orphanage he is sold to a fisherman in his teens. The person who sls Jean Grenouille to the fisherman is later robbed and killed while he is on his way back.
He works for fisherman through which He comes in contact with a perfumer who is in ruins because of his competitor.
Jean Grenouille begs to the perfumer to give him an opportunity to show his talent.
Jean Grenouille makes exact perfume which the perfumers competitor drops in his sample bottle.
Perfumer
is stunned . But he bites his fingers when Jean Grenouille makes a
perfume far better than the sample he has. He buys Jean Grenouille from
the fisherman .
Once
again fisherman returns with huge sum he gets in return for his slave ,
but misfortune creeps and he the fisherman too is killed on his way
back .
Perfumers business multiplies day in day out.
During
the day where business is flourishing by the speed of light , Perfumer
teaches Jean Grenouille the secrets and technicalities of extracting
perfume through natural elements , compiling them together in
particular amount to give particular fragrance.
Jean Grenouille gets more and more obsessed with the idea of making better and unique perfume.
Jean Grenouille learns he has to leave the perfumer in order to walk the path of his destiny. Before Jean Grenouille leaves perfumer takes 50 perfume recipes from Jean Grenouille.
He
day Jean Grenouille leaves his master , an unfortunate event takes
place back here. The building in which the perfumer lives is grounded .
Jean Grenouille walks on a long journey following a scent he comes across on the way .
He fails to catch the owner of the scent who is daughter of a king .
On his way , Tired of the journey he falls asleep for days in a cave .
When he wakes up he discovers a horrifying face about himself , that he has no scent of his own.
That means he doesnt exist . He is broken by the fact.
Now Jean Grenouille starts out on a journey which brings out extraordinary demon hidden in him.
His only ambition in life is to make an ultimate perfume .
He
works in a place where perfume is extracted from flowers and a
different way than he had learned before. He now follows every virgin
woman which has beauty extraordinaire .
He ends up slowly killing the women thereby successfully riping out the scent of their bodies.
Havoc is created in the small town .
The king has a beautiful daughter too which has scent he followed previously when he was on his journey.
He manages to get different concentrated perfumes to make the ultimate perfume he craves for.
One last bottle remains unfilled . He digs out heaven and earth for the most beautiful girl which is his last victim.
The king hides his daughter in every possible way but , Jean Grenouille finds her and extracts her scent .
He is caught by kings men capture him and he is about to be hanged in middle of the village.
In the jail he opens his ultimate perfume which works enormous magic.
He
walks freely through the crowd who wants to see him killed . He stands
in middle of the crowd, opens his bottle , dabs the perfume to one hand
kerchief and simply flies it off in the public.
As soon as the scent flies off in the air people are seduced by the smell.
Whole village is transformed into people making love to each other in that very place itself.
Jean
Grenouille just walks away unhurt through the crowd , to follow his
destiny again which now takes him back to the filthy , stinky place
where he was born.
Finally destroying himself.
This is a film which absorbs the viewer from the moment the film starts.
Even after the film is finished it does not leave your mind.
It makes you think about the obsessions you posses and things you do to have things your way.
A different kind of cinema treated differently technically too.
Technically
apart from the outstanding performances editing which is little
difficult for such kind of subject is done seamlessly .
Screenplay in the key element in the strong foundation of this film .
